For years and over a decade, we have been bringing the concept of What’s in Your Soil to gardeners, landscapers, suburban farmers and growers all across this country. Through our educational outreach, we have been at the forefront of asking gardeners to look beyond the false packaging and messaging that permeate the organic lawn & garden market space, to dive into the truth behind what it is that we are actually growing in? Nine times out of ten, gardeners, landscapers, farmers and growers are buying and using Faux Organic fertilizers and soils to grow their precious spaces. This has to stop. 

 

That is why Malibu Compost has been discussing the truth about product inputs for years. We have been begging the question of how conventional, non organic inputs can be used in organic farming and gardening? We have been at the tip of the spear in promoting REAL Organic and healthy farming, gardening and growing practices. We’ve started every one of our talks and classes with a walkthrough on who runs the NOP, the National Organic Program, what some of the basics rules of Organics are and why it is that so many gardeners and growers are confused as to what is actually organic and what is not? 

 

People are definitely confused when it comes to organic farming and gardening. 

 

That is one of the reasons that we battled with our certifiers to rebrand our bags and have them labeled: Farm Made and Non-GMO Organic. This was not an easy thing for us to get on our bags. We submitted years of Genetic ID’s that tested for the GMO crops: corn, soy and alfalfa. We backed those lab results up with Toxicology panels that test for over a hundred and fifty compounds and chemicals that are used in herbicides, pesticides and fungicides. We clarified and substantiated for our organic certifiers every single ingredient that makes up our flagship product Bu’s Blend Biodynamic Compost, and why it is the ONLY Farm Made, Non-GMO Organic compost available in the United States. 

 

We put our years of making healthy, clean, safe, REAL Organic Compost on the line with the agencies that certify our products, and we prevailed. We are grateful and honored to be the first and ONLY Non-GMO Organic soil company in America, and most likely, the world. This is truly an amazing achievement for us and for all of you amazing gardeners, farmers, landscapers and growers who have supported us over the years. Thank you!

 

What the labeling on our bag means is that there is finally a labeled, certified option to the bags of soils and composts that have Organic printed on them, but have inputs like chicken manure or poultry litter in them that are sourced from conventional AG. That chicken component of those compost and soils comes from chickens fed GMO corn, soy and alfalfa. All of those crops are sprayed with glyphosate because they are RoundUp Ready. The poor chickens are also fed bakery meal, which is the mashed up garbage from bakeries all across the country from wheat that is sprayed with glyphosate or other broad spectrum herbicides as a desiccant to stiffen the wheat shaft for cutting. 

 

There have been several studies on the affects of glyphosate on the guts of the chickens fed these crops. In every study, the microbiome of their guts have been drastically harmed and the chemical was found throughout their bloodstream. This manure gets into over 90% of the “natural and organic” composts, potting soils, planting mixes, amendments and fertilizers sold in the U.S. The glyphosate residues get into the soil of gardens and grows and then is absorbed up into the green leafy tissue of plants during the uptake of nutrients from the soil. This gets into the food that gardeners and farmers are growing and then gets into their gut lining, bloodstream and organs as they eat the fruits and vegetables that they are growing. This is a huge problem that no-one is talking about. No-one except your friends Malibu Compost.

 

We are going to keep pushing our message of Non-GMO Organic and REAL Organic growing and gardening. We believe that in our mission statement to help the people, planet and animals of this Earth, nothing could be more important. Our goal is to have everyone using clean, healthy, safe, REAL Organic Non-GMO compost in their gardens, farms and grows to create the healthiest fruits, vegetables, flowers and plants that anyone can grow. We believe that the toxins that Big CHEM and Big AG are putting in our food and gardens have got to stop. That is our mission. That is our plan. That is our goal for a safer, healthier and happier world.
