In Ground Planting

Spread a big fat 1 to 1½” of Bu’s Blend Biodynamic Compost over your beds, pot and planters. Lightly work to the compost into the soil. We don’t want you digging 6” out. Go an ½”-1” deep then water. Let the microbes do the work. Remember work smarter, not harder. Let the area that you’re going to plant sit for a day or two if possible. If not, it’s cool, go for it. Plant whatever you’re planting. Put a nice handful or two of Bu’s Blend in the bottom of your planting hole and say something wonderful to the plant. Plants like to assured just like the rest of us. Then, broadcast another ½” of Bu’s Blend over the newly planted area. Then, sit back and watch the magic.

Re-Planting Pots

If you are re-planting your pots, spread 1-1 ½” of our Biodynamic Compost over the pot. Lightly work into the existing soil. We can’t emphasize lightly enough. Do this while sipping your favorite beverage. Put your plant in the pot, put a big handful of Bu’s Blend in the bottom of the hole and water. After watering, get another one of your favorite beverages and add ½” of Bu’s Blend over the surface of the soil. Give it a light hit of water to get those microbes cranking. Don’t over-water. Save the water for another activity…like a shower.

Planting new Pots

When using Bu’s Blend while planting new pots you want to find a good potting soil. That’s tough to do but if you e-mail us we’ll recommend a couple to you. You want to use a 2 to 1 mix of potting soil…remember good stuff not cheap and from who knows where. Really mix it up. Go punk rock on it. Punk rock with love. Make sure you put a nice handful in the bottom of your planting hole just for good luck. Then plant the little guy. Cover him or her up. Water. Lay a ½” cover over the top and dust that with a slight h2o sprinkle.

New Seeds and Starter Plants

In the Ground

Work 1 part of our Biodynamic Compost with 2 parts native or existing soil. Remember work the soil with love. Because if you do, it will love you back. Lightly soak the soil like a gentle rain once you have lovingly worked the compost into the ground. If you can let the bed or planting area sit a week or two before planting. If not, the planting police won’t bust you if you just can’t wait to get dirty.

In Containers

Mix 2 parts native or good planting mix with 1 part Bu’s Blend Biodynamic Compost. Use good planting mix. Not el cheapo. E-mail us if you want some suggestions. Lightly water the plants with a sweet rain can or soft spray shot once the compost and the soil or mix have been combined. Now, remember to breathe and watch your little guys take off.

Lawns

Hey…here’s a healthy option instead of poison fertilizers and toxic lawn foods. Broadcast ½” of Bu’s Blend over your lawn and water it in. Do this three times per year and you will have good karma and a great looking lawn. You can also use as a cover over seed on existing lawns. Broadcast your lawn seed then cover with a ½” of Bu’s Blend Biodynamic Compost and water. Feel good about yourself. Lawns contaminate more of our water than any other source. You’ve just broken the cycle.

Cover Mulch

Spread 1-1½” of Bu’s Blend over your beds, pots and planters. Do not work into the soil. We repeat, do not work the soil. Let the irrigation or rain work the compost into the soil. Is that cool or what?

Compost Tea

Bu's Brew Biodynamic Compost Tea makes a killer liquid foliar for your plants. Simply put a teabag or two (one for each 2.5 gallons of water) in a bucket, fill it with water and let it sit overnight. In the morning, or afternoon if you’re a late sleeper, stir the mix until you get a nice vortex going. Then, stir it the other way. Again, get a good vortex happening and then remove the teabags and put the tea into a sprayer or how Denise’s roses like it…big drops coming off of a big paintbrush. Like rain. Roses, shrubs, edible plants, trees, and lawns will love this extra special spa treatment. And don’t worry you can’t hurt the plants by overdoing it a little.
